Raffir Wood is our quality brand of stabilized wood. It is also the core product of our company. We have more than 15 years of experience developing and producing stabilized wood. It is a continuous cycle. Hence, we always strive to make it better, stronger and more beautiful.
Raffir Wood is naturally beautiful wood that is filled to the core with a plastic resin. We call this process “stabilization”. The final material has the unique grain patterns of the untreated wood. Meanwhile, it obtains the mechanical advantages from the strong resin. In other words, it unites the best parts from both worlds. Good quality stabilized wood absorbs very little water. Therefore, it is less prone to warping and cracking. It is also heavier, harder and more durable than normal wood. Finally, it polishes well and has a deeper grain structure.
Normally, wood is stabilized with a vacuum process. We use a combination of vacuum and very high pressure to achieve the best result. Furthermore, we have developed our own acrylic resin formula. Because of this, Raffir Wood has high durability and can obtain a high gloss finish after polishing. It absorbs very little water, and will have very low swelling and shrinkage at different humidity. Therefore, it will not warp and crack as easily as untreated wood. The material has a smooth surface without porosities and needs no other finishing than fine sanding and polishing.
There are many wood species to choose from. We have selected those we find best suited for the process. This is both in terms of beauty and properties. Our standard selection covers: poplar burl, flamed poplar, spalted beech and platan. We also stabilize limited series of woods, such as bog oak and curly dark chestnut. All our wood species come from sustainable forests within the EU.
Raffir Wood also comes in 10 different colors. Our standard color selection is: black, blue, brown, red, yellow, purple, lime, green, orange and natural. Together, this creates a great variety of stabilized wood products to choose from. You can find the different wood species below. Click on them to see each selection.
Our standard handle blocks are 120*40*25mm, while handle scales are 120*40*8mm. Custom dimensions are also available for other purposes. We can cut up to the size of our finished raw blocks, which differs depending on the type of wood. The typical raw blocks are about 260*135*40mm. However, our current maximum size is about 450*200*65mm. You are welcome to contact us for further information. Or you can ask our retailers for their current availability.
