Our new blade series “Scandinavian Hunter” is created in collaboration between Raffir and five distinct Danish knifemakers. We have combined their idea of the ideal blade with over a decade of experience in blade manufacturing.
We launched the project in 2022 because we now have unique access to a new solid stainless Damascus steel type. This steel meets all the criteria we have been searching for to create a blade series that is strong, corrosion resistant and aesthetically pleasing.
The blades are designed by five highly skilled Danish knifemakers: Tommy Astrup, Jens Rahbek, Jens Mikkelsen, Henning Rohde and Kim Kofoed. Each of these knifemakers has a distinct knife making style. We asked them to use all of their experience after decades of knifemaking to design the ideal blade for their own knives. As a result, each blade reflects the knifemakers personal style:
The blade steel type is high alloy stainless Damascus steel. Since this is a solid high quality steel type there is no need for harder core steel. Core steel is required in most industrially manufactured Damascus blades. Instead, this blade is precision CNC milled from a solid bar of beautiful high alloy Damascus steel. The tang is welded on in a strong puzzle joint to keep the quality to price ratio up.
The two steel types that make up the cloudy pattern of the blade are 440C and N690 high alloy. We have analyzed the steel thoroughly with our cooperation partner at Raffir Brazil to ensure its quality.
This steel is one of the main reasons why we think these are the best hunting knife blades we have created.
You can find the new blade series at our retailers. So far they are available at Læderiet, Linå, Knivkunst, Ravstedhus, Naturgalleriet, JK-knivmaterialer.dk, Storbua.no, Nordisches Handwerk and Brisa.
