Raffir poplar burl is the high end choice for handles and inlays. This type of wood is a wonder of nature, and every piece is unique. Still every variation is natural and beautiful. All of our materials are forested in Europe, and all pieces are carefully selected before stabilization.

Variations and Properties of Poplar Burl

Stabilized wood maintains its unique grain patterns of the untreated wood. At the same time, it obtains mechanical advantages from the strong resin compound. Here at Raffir Woods we stabilize poplar burl in ten colors: natural, yellow, orange, red, purple, lime, green, blue, brown and black. Our Raffir stabilized wood has high durability and obtains a high gloss finish after polishing. The wood absorbs very little water and has low swelling and shrinkage at different humidity. This material has a smooth surface and needs no other finishing other than fine sanding and polishing.

Poplar Burl Available Dimensions

Our standard handle blocks are 120*40*25mm in size, while handle scales are 120*40*8mm. Custom dimensions are also available for other purposes. We can cut up to the size of our finished raw blocks, so the upper limit is quite high. Our raw blocks differ in size because of their organic nature.
